About Me
Hello, I am Joanna Crosby. I have a Ph.D. in history from the University of Essex, on the social and cultural history of the apple and the orchard in Victorian England. I am currently an Honorary Research Fellow in the the Department of History at the University of East Anglia.
I am a historian of apples and orchards, but from time to time I leave my books and archives behind and get out into real orchards. Ask me orchard and apple-related questions, and I will do my best to help.
I also have an M.A. in Heritage Management from Birmingham University. I am a Director of the East of England Apples and Orchards Project, an Advisor to the Cider Museum, Hereford and to the St George’s Conservation Trust.

My book, Apples and Orchards Since the Eighteenth Century, is available from:
Bloomsbury Publishing
Amazon.co.uk
There will be a paperback version coming out in 2025 as well.

I am happy to give advice about orchards and apples; if I cannot help I will pass your question on to someone who can. However I am currently not giving talks to clubs and societies.
